Welcome!

I'm Annalise McDonnell, a 2023 graduate of Emerson College with a degree in Journalism and minors in Pre-Law and Post-Colonial Studies. I’m currently based in New York City, where I work full-time as a Development and Fundraising Associate at Malteser International Americas, a global humanitarian relief organization.

In my role at Malteser, I manage donor databases, track gifts and grants, and support the implementation of fundraising strategies that sustain our emergency response and long-term development programs around the world. I also help craft donor communications, organize campaign outreach, and assist with data migration projects to improve internal systems and donor stewardship.

Before this, I worked as a Communications and Development Associate at Nurturing Minds, a nonprofit supporting girls' education in Tanzania. There, I oversaw financial transactions, maintained donor records, coordinated events, and led digital outreach efforts. I also supported volunteer integration and communications strategy to help grow the organization’s impact.

At the core, my passion is for storytelling, reading, and creating meaningful connections. I truly believe in the power of books and narratives to build empathy, foster understanding, and bring people together. These values guide both my personal interests and professional goals. My background is uniquely interdisciplinary. I bridge the worlds of development, digital communications, and journalism, bringing both analytical rigor and a human-centered lens to every project. Whether I’m writing about global crises, managing donor strategy, or creating content that resonates across cultures, I approach each task with curiosity, care, and creativity. I'm especially excited to bring this perspective into future roles in publishing or media spaces where connection and storytelling mean everything.

Feel free to explore the Work section for writing samples and visit the Multimedia Capstone tab to see my long form multimedia project that follows a women's experience living in Boston from Ukraine, an interesting prospective that provides a short background on the Russian-Ukraine war as well as a storytelling project. You can also find my full resume below.
